Consultation process
Consultation will be undertaken by the governing body or such persons as appointed by the Secretary of State in respect of the schools. These bodies will report to the SoS who may make an Academy Order where not already been done. Subsequently the SoS may enter into a funding agreement to enable the school to convert to academy status with a sponsor. The Local Authority are required to enter into an expression of interest between 1 and 21 June and the decision should be that of the Cabinet Member for Children and the DCS.. If the SoS approves sponsored conversion then the LA will be required to enter into commercial transfer agreements and 125 year leases with the academy trusts between June and August for such of the four schools as require a funding agreement
