The SPD will guide passive solar design, decentralised energy networks, renewable energy, resilience to climate change, reduced water use, biodiversity protection and sustainable waste management. It will form part of the Local Development Framework, assist in determining planning applications, guide design and construction projects, low carbon initiatives and housing refurbishment programmes.

Consultation process
Following a stakeholder event in 2009 at which ideas were discussed, and as part of the Council wide Greenest Borough Strategy, the draft SPD was issued for public and stakeholder consultation in accordance with PPS12 Regulations from November 2010 to January 2011, including website, newspaper advert, copies available in libraries, and offering to appear at Area Assemblies, agents forums and LDF members meeting. It is proposed that in addition, a Sustainability Champions Network will be set up to monitor progress and effectiveness following adoption.

SLT date: A draft Equalities Impact Assessment screening which was carried out for the draft SPD indicates that the advice provided within the document had positive impact on all those living and working in Haringey and beyond. No further assessment is necessary at this stage.
