North London Waste Plan final draft for submission to Secretary of State

The North London Waste Plan (NLWP) is a planning policy document which is being developed by the seven constituent boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Islington, Waltham Forest and Haringey. The plan will identify sites within the seven boroughs that are suitable for waste management use. The draft of this document has been through three comprehensive rounds of public consultation in order to develop the best criteria for identifying the most suitable sites and they have used these to identify a number of sites, large and small in the boroughs. Two of the identified sites are in Haringey – Marsh Lane (adjacent to the bus depot) and Pinkhams Way (the former sewage works on the North Circular). The NLWP will be submitted to the Secretary of State in July 2011 and then put before an Independent Planning Inspector. The draft report is required to get approval from the Cabinets of each of the seven boroughs before it can be submitted.
