The Environment Act 1995 requires the Council to produce an Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) detailing the measures it is taking to reduce health pollutants where the national air quality objectives are not met. The first AQAP was produced by the Council in 2003 and is now being rewritten and updated.

Consultation process
Statutory consultation for 12 weeks between 28/09/10 and 17/12/10. Statutory consultees are the Secretary of State (DEFRA), Environment Agency, Transport for London, Mayor of London, neighbouring authorities and bodies representing local business and other organisations as considered appropriate by the Council.
