Use of Introductory Tenancies in the Borough

The report provides information on introductory tenancies, including the experience of other landlords and seeks approval to consult on this issue. In addition, it seeks Members’ approval of proposals on the rights to be granted by the Council to introductory tenants (proposed use of the provision is in line with Government recommended best practice)

A questionnaire with information on the proposed changes will be provided to all existing tenants, and waiting list applicants. In addition - consultation on-line via website.

DMT date and early discussion between AD and Cabinet Member: Cabinet Member Housing Services - Cabinet Member Enforcement & Safer Communities with Assistant Chief Executive for Policy, Performance ,Partnerships and Communications with Director of Urban Environment

SLT date: Vulnerable people, including those with mental heath problems and learning difficulties, are protected under these policies. Outcomes of the policies will be monitored by age, disability, gender and ethnic group. Consultation material and other information for tenants will be offered in Haringey’s 9 main community languages, as well as in Braille, audio tape and large print. Responses to the resident’s questionnaire will be monitored by ethnicity, disability, age and gender.
