To seek a waiver to the requirement to tender and approval of bridging contracts for all sheltered housing and supported housing services for older people.
The contracts are worth £5.3 million per annum, covering 40 services supporting 5,000 older residents.
This sector is currently subject to a senior level strategic review, led by Urban Environment and involving Adult Culture and Community Services. The Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Well Being and the Cabinet Member for Housing Services are involved with the review, the outcome of which will be reported to Cabinet in due course.
The bridging contracts are intended to cover existing services until the outcome of the review is known.

However, the sector is currently subject to a senior level strategic review that will determine what the long term of supply of supported housing services for older people should look like. There is close cabinet member involvement. The review will inherently consider the diverse populations of older people living in the Borough and the equality implications of any long term changes. The review is being informed by comprehensive needs mapping commissioned by the Council in 2006, which clearly identified equalities issues linked to the need for future change in services
