Addressing Traffic Issues in St James Lane and Hillfield Park, Muswell Hill

We the undersigned petition the council to address Traffic Issues in St James Lane and Hillfield Park, Muswell Hill. We, the undersigned residents of Muswell Hill, are writing to raise urgent concerns regarding the increasing traffic congestion, speeding, and road safety issues affecting St James Lane and Hillfield Park. These problems have a significant impact on the quality of life, safety, and accessibility in our neighborhood. Over the years, we have observed: • Excessive traffic volume on St James Lane, and Hillfield Park particularly during peak hours, resulting in severe congestion, delays and road rage. • Speeding vehicles that endanger pedestrians, especially children, the elderly, and those with mobility challenges. • Parking issues that exacerbate traffic flow and cause obstructions.

Suggested Solutions:

While we trust in the expertise of Haringey Council to identify the most suitable measures, we propose the following options for your consideration:

1. Traffic-calming measures such as speed bumps (if possible), passing spaces, right of way signs or cameras to reduce vehicle speeds.

2. Time-based restrictions or alternative traffic management strategies to limit heavy traffic during peak hours.

3. Enhanced parking controls to prevent obstructions and improve traffic flow.

4. Exploration of one-way systems, road closures or other road configurations to streamline movement and ensure safety.

Our Request:

We urge Haringey Council to:

1. Conduct a comprehensive review of the traffic situation in St James Lane and Hillfield Park.
2. Engage with residents to understand their concerns and preferences.
3. Propose and implement viable solutions to address these longstanding issues.

By taking action, the Council can help ensure the safety, accessibility, and well-being of residents in St James Lane and Hillfield Park.
We believe that with a collaborative approach, it is possible to develop practical and sustainable solutions that benefit everyone in our community.
