Enforce the 20mph limit on the uphill side of Muswell Hill (A504) and the Alexandra Palace loop

We the undersigned petition the council to 1. commission a seven-day, 24-hour speed survey on the north-westbound (uphill) carriageway of Muswell Hill (A504), N10, and publish the results hour by hour, with the night-time hours (10pm to 6am) reported separately, since that is when residents see the worst speeding; 2. propose that site to Transport for London for a fixed safety camera under TfL's Vision Zero Action Plan 2, which commits to new cameras in "areas with persistent community concerns, proven collision risk and excessive speeds"; 4. log the repeated vehicle strikes on the kerb-edge bollards at the foot of the hill as a road safety indicator and assess a pavement build-out there; and 4. work with the Alexandra Palace and Park Charitable Trust, the police and TfL to bring speed enforcement to Alexandra Palace Way and the roads around the Palace, which remain a known racing circuit.

Muswell Hill became a 20mph road on 1 December 2025. A fixed camera on the hill enforces, as far as residents can tell, only the downhill direction. Traffic coming up the hill from the Priory Road gyratory accelerates round the bend onto Muswell Hill, where the pavement is one slab wide and children walk to school every day. The bollards at the kerb there are knocked over regularly, most recently on 6 October 2026. Department for Transport collision records show 46 injury collisions on Muswell Hill between the Broadway roundabout and Priory Road from 2016 to 2025, four of them serious, and 39 on Alexandra Palace Way, eight of them serious. Haringey has said it cannot install a camera without TfL. TfL has said it will add at least 20 new camera sites where there is persistent community concern. This petition is that concern.
