On 24 September 2026, a 16-year-old girl tragically lost her life on the way to school following a collision on North Road, close to Highgate School and St Michael's Primary School.
This devastating loss has shocked our community. We are furious that the long-standing concerns about the safety of North Road, a busy route used daily by hundreds of children and families has continued to be ignored. Parents have repeatedly raised concerns about speeding, dangerous driving, and the difficulties children face when crossing this road safely.
Other serious road traffic incidents on North Road have occurred in recent months. It is a known problem and the current safety measures are not sufficient for a road serving multiple schools and large numbers of pedestrians.
Our children should be able to travel to and from school safely. We need meaningful action to take place immediatly.
We insist that Haringey Council acts now.
