Speeding barriers on Dunloe Avenue N17

We the undersigned petition the council to We write to you to request improved vehicle speed control on Dunloe Avenue, N17 as a matter of urgency.

Despite the 20-mph speed restriction on the road, vehicles regularly travel at speeds exceeding 50 mph. This is exacerbated at night where some road users appear to be using the street to test high speed cars. This causes both a significant risk to residents and other road users, as well as substantial noise pollution at unsociable hours. A recent accident, where there was a head-on collision between unlicensed drivers, was reported to the Police following the use of the street as a racetrack between the hours of 3 and 4am.
There are many families with small children on this street that fear their children using the road for play or active travel.
Our recommendation is that at a minimum the speed reduction mechanisms introduced should include traffic calming devices to slow speeds (speed bumps, traffic thresholds, sleeping policemen or speed breakers).
