Local Lettings Policy in respect of Ambrose Court and Mallory Court, Cannon Road, N17

The report will seek approval for a Local Lettings Policy for the Council’s allocations to 30 new homes being constructed at Ambrose Court and Mallory Court, Cannon Road, N17 to give priority Love Lane residents whose homes will be demolished.

Minutes:

A report was tabled seeking Cabinet Member approval for a Local Lettings Policy proposed for the Council’s allocations to 30 new homes being constructed by Newlon Housing Association at Ambrose Court and Mallory Court, Cannon Road, N17.

Ordinarily, the Council allocates housing on the basis of giving priority to households in greatest need, as set out in the main provisions of the Council’s Allocations Policy. However, the Cabinet Member was advised that the proposed Local Lettings Policy would allocate the properties at Ambrose Court and Mallory Court on a different basis. Through the adoption of this Local Lettings Policy, priority would be given to Love Lane Estate residents whose homes will be demolished following approval of the High Road West Masterplan Framework by the Council’s Cabinet in December 2014.

The Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration noted that the report summarises the results of an extensive consultation exercise on the Local Lettings Policy, conducted with Love Lane Estate residents and all applicants on the Housing Register which closed on 11 January 2015. The Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration further noted that an Equalities Impact Assessment was also undertaken in preparation of this report.

RESOLVED

That the Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration:

I). Noted the results of the consultation with applicants on the Housing Register and Love Lane Estate residents; and

II). Also noted the results of the Equalities Impact Assessment undertaken;

III). Approves the Local Lettings Plan for 30 homes being built  at Ambrose Court and Mallory Court, Cannon Road, N17.
