Issues raised during the Area Forum

To take forward any issues raised during the Area Forum.

Minutes:

The Committee agreed that the updates provided during the Forum by the Metropolitan Police on future plans for policing at a borough level as well as updates from the Safer Neighbourhood Teams in the area had been informative. In particular, domestic violence had been identified as a key issue and priority going forward for the borough set against a pattern of an increase in reported incidents. As such, it was agreed that a report on the Council’s approach to try and address this issue be added to the agenda of the next meeting.

The Committee noted the issue raised during the Forum relating to the provision of safe pedestrian crossing facilities during the duration of the repair works Thames Water were undertaking on Bounds Green Road at the junction with Braemar Avenue. The Head of Neighbourhood Services agreed to look into this.

To note dates of future meetings and discuss venues and agenda items

·      18 April

Minutes:

The next meeting was scheduled for 18 April and would be held in Bounds Green ward. A number of agenda items had been proposed during the Forum for this meeting including the hours of operation of the Wood Green Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) and background details on how the hours had been set and the process for seeking any amendment. Feedback was also requested to be provided on the costs to the Council of running the Noel Park week of action and the number of fixed penalty notices issued.

Issues had also been raised regarding the diagonal pedestrian crossing opposite the underground station in Wood Green and the potential for installation of a countdown display to improve safety for people crossing. Confirmation was provided that a request had been submitted to Transport for London (TfL) to fund this and which had subsequently been shortlisted by TfL inline with a review of the timings of the lights at the junction. It was requested that an update be provided at the next meeting on progress. An update was also requested to the April meeting on the Watson’s Road traffic issue.
