Revision of Area Plan in reference to the revised governance arrangements

The Committee to discuss streamlining and populating the Area Plan with deliverable outcomes following changes to governance arrangements.

Minutes:

Following the recent governance review and dis-establishment of the community engagement team, the management and updating of area plans had been passed to the Area Committee Chairs. The Chair tabled proposed changes to the plan and advocated that the plan be streamlined with deliverable outcomes and  only include activities which  are most relevant to West Green and Bruce Grove residents.

Active Community Life – Initially there was a proposal to delete this priority from the plan. However there were a number of actions in relation to this priority that were assigned to Homes for Haringey. These included initiatives to facilitate local residents getting involved in community life and given there were also further actions assigned to Homes for Haringey in the Housing priority, it was agreed to; invite Homes for Haringey to attend the next meeting of the Forum in October to report back on how these actions were progressing and to outline the issues underpinning the priorities which would be  important to residents.

Broadwater Farm Shops/facilities  - A follow up meeting with the Director of Place and Sustainability  and Chair of the Area Forum  was  to take place on Friday 28th June  to  take forward the discussion at the last Area Forum about improvements to facilities on the estate. Agreed that Cllr Mallet be invited to this meeting.

Agreed to delete the priority of community capacity building as the actions associated with this had been completed.

Community Safety – Although these were actions solely assigned to the police and did not include council participation, it was agreed to keep this topic on the plan and shorten the narrative attached to the actions being taken forward. The SNT’s regularly attended the area forum meetings and were also able to provide verbal updates.

Early intervention – An initial proposal was to delete this priority as it was a council wide objective and not sufficiently focussed on West Green and Bruce Grove Area forum. However, a local issue was raised which demonstrated the need to look at how needs identified by the local cluster were taken forward by the associated children’s centre.  Noted that there would be a report to Cabinet in October on early help offer and it would be useful for the area forum to consider what the council and partners were doing on early intervention.

Housing - Agreed a report back by Homes for Haringey on the actions connected to this priority at the next meeting in October.

Agreed to remove the following activities as they had been completed:

·        Introduction and enforcement of dog control orders

·        Increase  summer opening hours  of Downhill’s Park Café

The following priorities  would remain on the  Area Plan -  Parks and Open spaces, Public Realm,  Unemployment  and Youth Provision.
