The Committee received an update on a number of issues raised at the last meeting including the allocation of the £450 underspend to the Making the Difference Fund for the area. Two projects had been proposed at the last meeting: Parkside Malvern Resident’s Association and refurbishment of Dolly Pope’s bench plaque. An update would be provided at the next meeting once the exact monies had been determined for each project, although it was anticipated that the majority would be allocated to Parkside Malvern.
The Chair also gave an update following a number of queries raised during the last Forum meeting in relation to the Olympics including the potential for large screens to be erected in public spaces in the borough to show the Games. Officers had explored the potential hire cost for such an outdoor screen and had established this would be in the region of £10,000. The screenings would also incur additional expense related to crowd management and public safety arrangements and compliance with requirements set out by LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games). Therefore, in light of the current financial climate, the proposal would not be taken forward.
Clarification had also been sought on the allocation of tickets via Ticketmaster for the Olympic Torch event at Alexandra Palace following concerns expressed at the last Forum that the tickets had not been ringfenced for borough residents. It was confirmed that the tickets had been sold in accordance with LOCOG ticketing guidance, with approximately 25% of tickets released at Tottenham Green Leisure Centre. An analysis undertaken by Ticketmaster had shown that 83% of ticket purchases made through them were from within Haringey, Enfield or Barnet.
