Minutes:

The Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Services received a report that sought confirmation of decision, which had been made in principle by the Cabinet on 21st December 2010, to close the home care service and commence a new re-ablement service, taking into account the consultation outcomes, as well as the relevant equalities impact assessments.

A summary of the report was provided and it was noted that, if agreed, some of the staff currently working in the service would be placed at risk of loosing their jobs. However, there would be a ‘recruited to stay’ process as part of the establishment of the new service and staff may wish to consider applying for voluntary redundancy in advance of the new service becoming operational in February 2012.

RESOLVED:

  1. That the current in-house home care service should be closed by end March 2012, at the latest, thus confirming the Cabinet decision in principle taken in December 2010.

  1. That the establishment of a new, focused, in-house re-ablement service, at a cost of £1.242 million, to be operational by end March 2012 at the latest be approved.
