To consider objections from the statutory consultation undertaken between 4 February 2026 to 25 February 2026, for the proposed new and relocation of dedicated disabled bays as part of Batch 3 - 2025/2026

Decision Maker: Head of Highways and Parking

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

Approve to implement the proposed changes to disabled parking at 24 locations detailed in Table 1
A summary of recommendations includes the following:
• 16 new dedicated disabled bays
• 6 conversions of existing disabled bays to dedicated disabled parking bays
• 2 relocations of existing disabled bays
• Remove controlled parking zone restrictions where the introduction of new dedicated disabled bays is approved.

Reasons for the decision:

To prioritise parking and safety of disabled residents who live in the affected roads

Alternative options considered:

A “Do Nothing” approach was considered but not recommended as it would not align to the Council’s Parking Strategy August 2024 and our Parking Schemes – Resident Engagement Policy, and guidance issued by Department for Transport (DfT).
