Approve to implement the proposed changes to
disabled parking places at 64 locations detailed in Table 1 Section
6
A summary of recommendations includes the following:
• 31 relocations of existing disabled bays
• 15 new standard disabled bays
• 14 remove existing Disabled Parking Bays
• 4 conversions of existing Dedicated Disabled parking bays to
Disabled Bays
• Remove controlled parking restrictions where the
introduction of new disabled bays approved.
• Extension of double yellow lines at some locations where
required, to accommodate the bays proposed.
Reasons for the decision:
To prioritise parking and safety of disabled
residents who live in the affected roads
Alternative options considered:
A “Do Nothing” approach was
considered but not recommended as it would be against the Councils
current dedicated disabled person parking policy and legal
requirements set by Department for Transport (DfT).
