To commission Haringey Basketball Association
under CSO 8.02 to manage the commission of an environmental health
and wellbeing programme for a 12-month period across Broadwater
Farm and Northumberland Park that will provide training
opportunities and peer to peer development. The commission is for
£4,000.
There is a disconnect between the
community’s interaction with their local environment and
civic pride and community ownership. Working in partnership with
Haringey Community Gold and Homes for Haringey, a programme has
been developed that will increase community ownership of the local
environment increasing knowledge and skills in the benefits of
environmental action that this commission will support. Thus
actively engaging the community and increasing social capital and
civic pride.
The other option would be to not commission
the programme which would result in loss of funding.
1) Do nothing – The community will not be engaged and other
mechanisms to increase community ownership and co-management of
community spaces will need to be considered. Could result in the
loss of funding. The TCA fund was secured in 2014 of which a large
portion of the fund has been spent to delivery Socio Economic
projects that enhance community benefit.
2) Go out to competitive tender –delivery of this programme
has delayed by 12 months due to Covid-19. Going out to competitive
tender would unnecessarily lengthen the process at a time when the
council should act quickly to promote and deliver projects that
enhance physical and mental wellbeing and utilisation of a local
provider increases local social value. This process is also not
required under CSOs as the contract is below £10k.
