Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

It is recommended that the Director of Housing, Regeneration and Planning in consultation with the Lead Member for Housing and Estate Renewal: -
• Notes the contents of the Equalities Impact Assessment attached as Appendix A.
• Agrees that the temporary suspension of the Choice Based Lettings scheme for lettings of Council housing on secure or introductory tenancy terms be lifted and that the Scheme hereafter apply with the amendments referred to at 1.2 above removed.

Reasons for the decision:

CBL provides residents with a choice over their future home and the suspension of this was a temporary measure undertaken on the basis of public health requirements. These restrictions are being lifted and alternative arrangements can be made to ensure viewings can take place safely.

Alternative options considered:

To continue with the suspension of CBL for all Council lets

This option was rejected because the CBL system is the Council’s preferred allocation method as set out in the Haringey Housing Allocations Policy and can be resumed following current Government guidance.
