For the Head of Project Delivery, Housing, Regeneration and
Planning to vary an existing award of contract to Currie &
Brown Limited for the commissioning and delivery of cost
consultancy services at Earlham School for an additional cost of
£9,700. The original value of the contract was
£76,291.89 and will now be further increased to
£85,991.89 when this variation is applied
Currie & Brown were appointed in 2019 to carry out cost
consultancy services for Building Services Improvements Lot 2
including Earlham Primary School. The total value of this
appointment was £76,291.89.
Additional boundary and external works and a condition and
suitability feasibility study of the Year 6 and Catering buildings
has been instructed by the client for Earlham Primary School. As
indicated above, Currie & Brown Limited are already appointed
and undertaking works on site, so it is considered more expedient
and cost effective to vary their existing appointment to cover
these additional services. Currie and Brown have agreed to hold
their previously tendered fee percentage rates.
The Council do not have the necessary
experience, qualifications and experience to manage these surveys.
Do nothing would impact on the quality of the feasibility studies
and works recommendations.
A further competitive tender exercise is not deemed to offer the
Council's best value in terms of programme, cost and
efficiency
