Decision details

For the Assistant Director to award the contract to Bernie Grant Arts Centre in the sum of £50,000.00 (fifty thousand pounds) to deliver a Cultural Engagement Programme (Pilot) within Tottenham.

To ensure that arts and culture is placed at the heart of the Tottenham Regeneration Programme, and to capture the value of creative industries, the Council has developed a Creative Tottenham Action Plan. Sitting at the heart of this plan is providing platforms for local people to access opportunities in the creative and cultural sectors.
In line with these ambitions, the Council sought a consortium of organisations to deliver a Cultural Engagement Programme (Pilot).

An alternative option would be for the Council to directly commission a number of cultural projects. This would be more resource intensive on the Council, and would not capitalise on the partnership working which is already taking place within Tottenham’s cultural sector.

Another option would be to do nothing, however this would not support local engagement in the arts, and thus the Creative Tottenham Action Plan.
