Extension of Training Contracts

Decision Maker: Director for Adult Social Services

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

For the Director of Adult Social Services to agree and authorise the Implementation of Contract Standing Order (CSO 10.02.1a) Extension of Contract for spend of up to £80,000 contained within the training budget.

Reasons for the decision:

A range of training contracts were originally awarded to begin on 1st November 2015 for an initial period of two years to 31 October 2017, with an option to extend for a further year . This report will now enable the contracts to be extended for a further 12 months to meet identified development needs in Adult Social Services and across its partners to support new ways of working.

Alternative options considered:

Following recommendation by Corporate Procurement a series of separate contracts were set up covering different training need themes.

No provider is guaranteed any level of spend. Contract value was agreed at up to £15,000 per theme. This is fully contained within the Adult Social care training budget. Income is also generated by charging for places from external organisations.

Following on-going contract monitoring utilising the twelve month extension period will give the service access to good quality training which has already been targeted to meet our needs. Extending the contracts awarded to the above providers to 31st October 2018 will allow sufficient time to complete a commissioning and procurement process for future provision.
