Opposition to LTN’s effect on Haringey residents

We the undersigned petition the council to amend the LTN system to minimise its effect on Haringey residents. While the LTN system has some benefits for reducing traffic on residential streets, its effect on residents is unreasonable. The current situation with extreme traffic conditions proves that, at the very least, the LTN scheme should take a step or two back. We propose that (at the very least) Haringey residents be granted permission to freely roam Haringey’s residential streets, including those in their local vicinity.

KEY BENEFITS:

1. This will increase the flow of traffic on main roads whilst maintaining the LTN system, satisfying Haringey residents on both sides of the LTN debate.

2. This is an easy and advantageous compromise for Haringey to make, allowing new road signs to remain as they are and maintaining the benefits of LTNs.

3. This will help to reestablish the core trust of local residents in Haringey.

Residents of Haringey should have full access to the Haringey area. Restoring permission to drive on local residential streets will restore the highly important sense of community.

We petition Haringey to make these changes with urgency in order to amend the current situation, at the very least, for their residents.
