We the undersigned, are informal and/or registered carers, professional carers & healthcare professionals and their associates who live and/or work within the areas affected by the Haringey wide LTN scheme.
Carers play a vital role within our community, caring for loved ones or clients who are disabled and/or housebound, who have long term health problems and care needs including children and the elderly.
We are facing increased journey times whilst trying to access vital healthcare services, everyday errands for carers are now being severely hampered, professional carers and service providers are experiencing delays in accessing their clients’ homes, and the impact that is having on the people we care for is extremely detrimental and puts them at increased risk.
This also creates additional anxiety and stress for carers at a time when we are already under immense pressure.
We are calling on Haringey Council to immediately suspend the LTN until meaningful consultation has taken place with those Key Groups and individuals who are being negatively impacted by the LTN, including informal/registered carers and other healthcare workers.
And we call on Haringey Council to work with those key groups to
understand the vital importance of accessibility for Haringey
Residents who are disabled, elderly or with long term health
conditions, which extends to those who care for them.
