Decision:

For the Director of Adult Social Services, Beverley Tarka for Implementation of Contract Standing Order (CSO 8.02) for services under £10,000

Reasons for the decision:

A large tendering exercise was carried out during 2015 for contract to start in November 2016 for two years with an option to extend for a further year. This put in place 12 different training contracts to cover a wide range of learning and development needs for Adults social care within the council and borough partners. Occasionally other training needs arise which can’t be met adequately by existing providers . On this occasion these have arise for a number of reasons including loss of an internal resource to deliver training, and specialist needs arising.

Alternative options considered:

Training contracts are in place to meet most of the training needs of staff and partners. However there is some training that is either highly specialised or one-off in nature. Therefore it is not cost effective to launch a large tendering exercise for these pieces of training work and instead the trainer has come from recommendations from other boroughs.

If these training needs become more regular they will be part of the retendering of contracts due to take place for November 2017.
