Additional Information
I was born in Hertfordshire, but my family moved to Kenya when I was young and I went to school there until I was 16, when I moved to London. I have lived in Haringey since 1970, and in Tottenham since 1971.
After completing my degree, I trained as a teacher, and taught Business Studies in Haringey secondary schools for 25 years, whilst bringing up my children who also attended local schools.
I became a school governor in the 1970’s and continued to serve until 2000, in various schools, including twice being Chair of Governors. I have enjoyed being involved in a number of community groups over the years and believe they are important in empowering people to take control of their lives and environment. I decided to become a councillor after retiring from teaching, in the hope that I could help to make Haringey an even better place for people from many different cultures to live and bring up children in.
My hobbies are reading, cycling, and swimming, and I hope to take up gardening in my retirement, but it hasn’t happened yet!
