Additional Information
I was born in 1955 above a Grocery shop on Weston Park, N8 (in what was the Borough of Hornsey) and educated locally – St Gildas’, St Aloysius Grammar and then Southgate Tech. I read Philosophy and Economics at City University. During the holidays I worked for Haringey Council as a post boy and gardener.
My working life proper started with Haringey (in Tottenham Careers Office) and the GLC. I was with the commercial arm of the BSI for 14 years, leaving in 1995 to work with my sister's PR Company. I founded my own a few years later specialising in smaller businesses as well as offering arts consultancy. I have edited local magazines including Hornsey and N8 magazine.
Councillors don’t get much free time but I always make sure that I put the Lord’s Test in the diary. I love the theatre, follow Crouch End Festival Chorus and write music and book reviews.
Haringey is a challenging borough but with unlimited potential - I try to realise those opportunities through my work on Overview and Scrutiny and leading for my group on Health and Adult Services.
Being a councillor is a round the clock call on one's time, but certainly the most rewarding thing I have ever done.
