Additional Information
I have been a Haringey resident since I came to London from Co. Donegal, Ireland in 1963. I have lived with my wife and family in Wood Green ever since.
I have been a Haringey Councillor from 1971 to 1986 and continuously from 1990. I am a Councillor for Woodside Ward where I have lived since 1971. I have served as a School Governor in a number of Haringey schools.
During my time on Haringey Council, I have had the privilege of being the Council Leader from 1983 to 1985, from 1999 to May 2004 and from May 2006 until December 2008. I have also been Deputy Leader twice 1977-78 and 1996-99.
I was elected as Executive Member for Children and Young People in May 2004 and then again in May 2005.
Haringey has changed dramatically during the 30 or so years I have been on the Council. We now have a culturally rich and diverse borough, one I am immensely proud of.
I became a Councillor because I believe in quality public service, I feel it is important that local people are involved in making decisions that affect their every day lives.
It is also a great honour to be able to serve my local community.
