Additional Information
I was born and grew up in North Wales and moved to London in 1970. I worked in the retail music business from the mid 1970s until 1997 and owned a music and computer business in south London through the 1980s. For most of the 1990s I ran an international rare jazz record auction.
I am a qualified journalist and for the last eleven years I have worked for a sexual health charity, providing advice and information for patients and medical professionals. I also serve on the board of the Skin Care Campaign, an umbrella organisation representing dermatology charities. I am an adviser to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Skin.
I have lived in Haringey since 1991 and am married with two sons. Both attended Bounds Green Infant and Junior Schools as well as Alexandra Park School, where my younger son is still a pupil. I served as Chair of Governors at Bounds Green and was a founding governor at Alexandra Park where I still serve. I am proud to have played a small part in the success of these schools.
I have been a Liberal since 1966. I joined Hornsey & Wood Green Liberal Democrats when I moved here in 1991. I have worked as a volunteer at Friends of the Earth, Transport 2000 and Marxism Today magazine. I am a member of Liberty, Amnesty International and No2ID.
I am interested in education, health and transport as well as housing, planning and traffic issues at a local level. I would like to see a satisfactory long term future mapped out for Alexandra Palace so that it can continue to be a place of recreation for the people of Haringey and London for many years to come.
I am a keen music fan and enjoy live music, especially jazz, rock, blues and latin styles. I also play the piano badly. The fortunes of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have been a source of joy and despair for me since the days of Danny Blanchflower. I try to watch as many games as I can, usually on television, with my fingers crossed.
I am pleased and proud to represent the people of Alexandra ward on Haringey Council and I am working to improve the area for everyone.
