For the Assistant Director for Schools and Learning to
approve a variation of contract to Diamond build Plc by
£407,535.58 varying the contract sum from £715,848.15
to
£1,123,383.73as allowed under Haringey’s Contract
Standing Orders 10.02.1
The scope of the project has extended from that originally tendered
by the contractor, following changes to DfE policy on RAAC
encapsulation, together with the requirement to deliver additional
works during the construction phase of the project. These changes
have been approved under strict change control procedures. Changes
in costs have been assessed by the Project Quantity Surveyor to
ensure the variation is in line with market rates.
With construction works on site re-tendering at this late
stage would be detrimental to the council in terms of time
and cost. This would further impact operationally on the
school’s ability to deliver their curriculum fully.
There are no available resources within the Council that
have the capacity or expertise to deliver in house.
